SANTA MONICA, CA – Early Sunday morning, at 4:55 a.m. on November 11th, 2018 the Santa Monica Fire Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire on the 900 block of 18th Street. SMFD Firefighters arrived in 4 minutes and 31 seconds to a 2-story apartment building with 1 unit on the first floor well involved with fire. 27 Firefighters work aggressively to fight back the blaze that was beginning to spread to the apartment units on the second floor. The majority of the fire and related damage was confined to the apartment unit where the fire began with partial damage to the unit above.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries to occupants or first responders. One occupant was displaced due to the fire. Firefighters were assisted by our partners at Santa Monica Police, and McCormick Ambulance. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Santa Monica Fire Department investigators.
