The
Fire Department offers Disaster Assistance Response Training
(DART) to
residents and anyone who works in Santa
Monica. The one-day course is designed
to provide citizens with the skills to
help better prepare themselves in the
event of a disaster. The course is
usually held on a Saturday from 8:30
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. several times each
year, and is free to participants.
The
course includes hands-on training in
light search and rescue techniques,
shutting off utility connections,
rescuer safety, and disaster first aid.
Participants will also practice putting
out fires with extinguishers. The
training is open to all adults 18 and
over who live or work in the City of
Santa Monica. To enroll in the DART
program, please call (310) 458-2221.
